Discussion Lead

Discussion leaders assume a share of responsibility for framing the opening segment of class. This is an opportunity to showcase a method you have used before (or a new one you want to try out) to engage your colleagues with the assigned reading. You may ask us to write, to respond to questions, to explore a passage (or series of passages). You may involve us in a game, a mini-lesson, even a sing-along. The emphasis here should be on engagement with the reading, on some structured activity, and on conversation—that is, on a generally positive and energetic opening encounter with the assigned reading. You are encouraged to provide framing materials along the lines of a handout or slidedeck. In any given class, discussion leaders are collectively responsible for 30 minutes of class time during the first half of the session.

Everyone will lead discussion once during the semester.
